Lately, the musicals Rent and Wicked have been keeping me sane. Or the reverse, if you want to look at it that way. While I was finishing my last paper of the year, I kept my head from exploding with unwanted information about Emily Dickinson by watching/ listening to lots and lots and lots of YouTube clips. Then, the day I went back to Illinois, I was in a weird, apathetic mood, not wanting to do much of anything productive, and therefore spent the first two days there making about 90 icons. I want to share with you the fruits of those "labors."

They're pretty Maureen-centric, mostly because I was enamored with the pretty lighting in the "Over the Moon" scene. Lots of variations on a theme, for which I apologize.

1: I ship Mark/His Work. As I told Bethany, I feel kind of badly about this, because I know I should want Mark to end up with some nice girl. But he and His Work are just so cute together.
3, 24-30: From the workshop version of Rent (see link below) song "Female to Female B," in which Maureen and Joanne have this exchange: "Isn't it enough that I put up every day with a temperamental, abusive--" "Sexy!" "All right, sexy--" "Talented, brilliant--" "Infuriating--"
"Funny--" "Manipulative, immature--" "Postmodern goddess!" "And oh-so modest." I just thought the idea of Maureen characterizing herself as a postmodern goddess was about the best thing ever.
49-52: "Happy New Year" as a song may have been deleted from the movie, but Maureen still by God showed up in her catsuit with chips. Because, well, why wouldn't she?
30, 35, 38, 43: From the Broadway production. It looks kind of like Baby Idina is trapped in a box.

10, 11: I believe that's a line from the novel. "When in the provinces, one must show them some style."
29. In The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy melts Elphaba, she cries, "Who would have believed a little girl like you could destroy all my beautiful wickedness!" Okay, the green girl overacted a bit. But I like that line.
